Uni Posca
Markers

Uni Posca Pens
are acrylic filled markers that come in
different sizes with different sized tips.
The beauty of the Posca Pen is that you are
actually painting with the convenience of a
marker. The ink will dry and act exactly the
same as a high-pigment, high-quality
artist's paint. It will be water-proof,
light-fast and remain vibrant. The nib sizes
you see on the Posca page are described
according to the width of the line they can
draw.
So, the Ultrafine, which is
described as a 0.7mm line is perfect for
outline or fineline work. The line it
produces is the same as a ball-point pen.
The actual size of the barrel is about the
same as a skinny pen. Please note that the
makers of Posca are pretty generous with the
amount of paint in these pens. The next size
up is the Fine, which draws a 1.3mm line.
This is a line similar to a kids texta pen.
The barrel is about the size of a fat
ball-point pen.
The Medium, which is
probably the most popular Posca Pen for art
work, draws a 2.5mm line and like the two
pens before, has a bullet-tip. The barrel actually feels like a true
marker. It's fat and chunky like a Nikko.
Next, the Medium Chisel are
the first Posca Pen to deviate from the
bullet tip. These have a chisel tip which
can be used at different angles to produce
different thicknesses of lines. Described as
a 8mm tip these pens actually do a couple of
different thicknesses but 8mm is the
thickest line with the tip turn side on. The
barrels of these are quite fat, at least
twice the width of the mediums and a little
shorter.
The biggest Posca Marker is the Broad
Chisel Posca. This also has a
chisel tip which when turned side-on will
produce a 15mm line. The barrel on these
things is huge. The length is 16cm and the
width is equal to a twenty cent piece.
All Posca's come with a ball-bearing inside
and you have to give it a good shake before
each use. If the ball-bearing is not moving
around at first, keep shaking back and forth
until you hear it come loose inside the pen.
The liquid can separate in all paint markers so
make sure you do get into the habit of
shaking them before use. Posca Markers can
be used on many surfaces including glass,
metal, plastics, canvas, wood and many other
surfaces. Our Posca customers include fine artists,
body shop estimators, car sales (as
windscreen markers), surfboard artist's and
shop keepers for presentations on glass
windows.
To remove Posca Paint from glass use an open
blade held flat to the glass turn it at a
bit of an angle as if you were trying to
wedge the blade between the paint and the
glass and scrape away. Use glass cleaner to
clean up. No residue should be left. |

Liquid Chalk Markers
- New to Uniball. |
Posca Chalk Markers are here! These are a
removable version of the Posca. Available in
8k and 5m sizes. These liquid chalk markers
go onto glass, whiteboards, metal, plastics,
blackboards and heaps more. They are rain
resistant and wipe resistant, but when wiped
off with a wet rag they remove cleanly with
no residue.
On whiteboards they can be left on for
extended periods without leaving that
ghosting smudge when cleaned off. They are a
superior whiteboard marker.
Great on glass too.
I used these on my shop windows for our
Christmas display. I used cut stencils and
coloured in on the glass with the red, green
and white. They worked perfectly and
clean-up was a breeze. Highly recommended.
