Matisse Structure

Derivan's Matisse Structure Acrylic is a professional quality artist's paint. The first thing you'll notice is the tubes have an actual stroke of paint on the label. This allows the artist to see exactly what the paint is going to look like once dry. A tip for beginners - don't take the lid off the tube and look at the wet paint. It tells you nothing about what the paint looks like when dry, and is really misleading. Avoid the temptation. The paint tubes are an 80ml size and the tubs 250ml. The colour range is quite comprehensive with a few colours being so unique to Matisse they've gained an almost cult-following. The colour chart claims that several colours are uniquely Australian.
Being a professional acrylic we'd expect the paint to still be vibrant 50 years+ and you can rest assured that with Matisse Structure this will be the case. I haven't seen any colour-fade in my 18 years of using it so I'd believe the claims made about "highest lightfastness and archival quality".
The paint consistency is thick and creamy, perfect for building texture. A brush or a palette knife can be used. A little water can be added to thin the paint for washes or watercolour effects.
Several mediums are available to change the properties of Matisse Structure. You can add body, gloss up, matt down, thin out and many others. The list is too big to include here but I will mention the newest addition - Open medium. This medium when added to Matisse Structure will not interfere with the thick, impasto quality of the paint but will extend the working time - perfect for Australian conditions, especially outdoors.
